About Tom Opre:  Show Host/ Executive Producer of Eye of the Hunter

Tom Opre has come a long way since those days following his outdoor writing father, columnist Tom E. Opre (Detroit Free Press, Field & Stream and Outdoor Life), chasing English Setters in the grouse woods or casting a dry fly on the famed,  ”Holy” waters of the Au Sable river in Michigan.

Hunting is in Tom’s blood. Opre has traveled the world from Africa to Alaska to Argentina in the pursuit of big game, incredible wing shooting and trophy fishing.

After getting a BA communications Grand Valley State University, where he also played collegiate football, he worked on the popular PBS program Michigan Outdoors. From there he went on to work for legendary outdoor filmmaker Glen Lau (producer of Sports Afield TV, Coors Western Outdoorsman and many award winning, outdoor TV commercials); to producing documentary films for Shark Week on the Discovery Channel and Alligators for PBS; to directing/producing national TV commercial projects (Federal Cartridge (Addy Award for Best Sporting Goods Commercial in U.S.), Mathews Archery (Swithcback Bow, Z7 Extreme Bow), Knight Muzzleloaders, Berkley, Sea Doo, Polaris ATV, Prois Hunting Apparel, Aimpoint, Otis Technology, and Chevrolet); to directing and producing extreme sports films; including the Xtremey Award nominated snowmobile and ATV series: Extreme Velocity: Sled Heads and Extreme Velocity: Mountains & Mud .

Since 1990, Opre has been the owner of Tahoe Films, Ltd., (www.tahoefilms.com), a full service film and video production company. His expertise includes extreme sports cinematography and still photography. His still photography has been published in a variety of publications including: Snowest Magazine, Snow Tech Magazine, SledNecks Magazine, Sled Heads Magazine, Red Sherpa Magazine, American Snowmobiler, ESPN The Magazine, EXPN.com and Snowmobile BC Magazine. His advertising work includes Bombardier – Ski Doo, Mathews Archery, Otis Technology, Aimpoint and SledNecks Clothing.

Opre reside in the Flathead Valley in Montana with his three children.

The Extreme Huntress™ Competition is about preserving our outdoor heritage. Our goal is to create positive role models for women who want to participate in hunting.

With a 50% divorce rate among parents and kids becoming invested in other sports at a younger and younger age, kids may not have the role models or opportunity to start hunting when they reach the legal age to hunt (12 or 14 depending on  the state). If mom goes hunting, so will her children, thus preserving our outdoor heritage for future generations.

Now in its sixth year, the competition is wildly popular among contestants and fans. The Extreme Huntress Competition continues to set the bar for serious outdoors women, while at the same time providing positive role models for women who are new to hunting, shooting and other traditional outdoor sports.

Filmmaker, Tom Opre, and his wife, hunting consultant Olivia Nalos Opre, travel from their Montana ranch in search of epic adventures all over the world. Their travels tell the real story of their intense, hard-core hunting expeditions. This is not a hunting show. It’s focus is on the adventure of the hunt. Hard-core action and the real story captured by award-winning filmmakers for the best outdoor adventures in the world. Beginning its’ seventh season, Eye of the Hunter™ airs weekly on NBC Sports Network (starting July 27, 2015 at 8 PM EST).
